Hours: 38.5 pw Mon - Fri (roughly 8am - 4pm)

Here at Inspire Scotland we pride ourselves on creating a great place to work and have a fantastic new opportunity for a dynamic education co-ordinator to support our new service to help serve the educational needs of our young people throughout Inspire Scotland. This is an exciting position for someone to make their mark in and contribute to the development of an established provision.

Role of an Education Co-ordinator:

·       Help young people achieve relevant qualifications

·       Support in all areas the compliance with the National Framework in accordance with our own submission

·       Develop new for the care and education workers through aiding in the organisation, structure, content and delivery of specific educational support

·       To develop and facilitate support with external agencies, including but not restricted to schools, colleges, post 16 providers

·       Support Quality Assurance through appropriate activities

·       Co-ordinate engagement opportunities for Young People

·       Support Advocacy for young people

·       Mentor care and education workers especially those identified as requiring additional support

·       Deliver a specialist provision within houses as agreed

·       Support new care and education workers members of staff through induction and support an allocated number of new care and education workers

·       Currently our offer to young people includes the Transitions in Action and SQA qualifications and the post holder will be required to become an Assessor for both and eventually an SQA verifier.

Skills & Experience Needed: 

·       Ability to deliver training in front of groups of people

·       Ability to engage positively with challenging young people

·       Knowledge of curricula and appropriate educational initiatives in Scotland and England including but not restricted to the National Curriculum, Curriculum for Excellence, the Attainment Gap, Developing the Young Workforce and GIRFEC

·       Strong communication skills

·       Good attention to detail

·       Strong organisational skills

·       Previous educational experience in face-to-face delivery of education with reluctant learners

·       Relevant social care/ education qualification to SCQF level 7

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Packages

·       Driving licence and access to own car is essential as the job involves travel between various homes in and around Inspire Scotland’s estate
